Julia Card, Esq.

When she began her undergraduate studies, Julia Card initially pursued a degree in psychology with the goal of earning a PhD in clinical psychology to work with veterans suffering from PTSD. Along the way, she minored in law and public policy, and it was through those courses that she discovered her true passion—the law. That realization shifted her path from pursuing a PhD to attending law school.
During law school at Cooley, Julia was a member of the Cooley Law Review, where she discovered how much she enjoyed legal research and writing. She also gained valuable hands-on experience working in the Sixty Plus Estate Planning Clinic, helping seniors with their estate planning needs. Additionally, she worked in immigration law for three years—first as a law clerk and later as a licensed attorney. This experience showed her how deeply fulfilling it is to fight for people’s rights and ensure they receive the benefits and protection they deserve.
Ultimately, she transitioned from immigration law to veterans’ disability law—bringing her full circle back to her original passion for helping veterans. Now, she feels fortunate to combine her legal skills with her long-standing goal of advocating for veterans and helping them secure the benefits they’ve earned.
Outside of work, Julia enjoys reading, watching sports, and spending time outdoors—especially making the most of Michigan summers up north.
